Frenchman arrested for threatening to kill British actress Judy Comer
French police have arrested a man who threatened to kill young British actress Jodi Comer in horrific online messages.
The Sun newspaper reported that the 28-year-old actress had received threatening emails from the accused, including a warning that was repeated more than once: "I am coming to England to commit a massacre."
After the actress's report, the police hired technology experts to locate the messages, before the officers stormed the criminal's home in the northern French city of Roubaix.
The name of the accused has not yet been revealed, but the sources said that he is 44 years old, and that the police seized computer files and other technical equipment during the raid, as the man cooperated with the officers.
The prosecutor stressed that the alleged threats from the man were "a major concern".
The sources said that the accused is currently released on bail, while the Public Prosecution and the Judicial Police are awaiting the results of the medical and technical examination.
The "harassment campaign" had started on social media and then moved to email when threats spread to Jodi's family members as well.
The British police contacted their French counterpart for the first time on June 30 and asked them to conduct investigations before the arrest.
The British star had to be absent from social media platforms before returning recently after the arrest of her harasser.
