Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova reaches French Open final, Roland Garros
Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beat confused Tamara Zidansk 7-5 6-3 to reach the French Open final after using all her experience on Thursday.
Slovenian Zinedine Zidane, ranked 85 in the world, started the match strongly with her attacking style, breaking her opponent's serve early, but Pavlyuchenkova succeeded in absorbing her opponent's shots and found a way to respond strongly in the end.
And the tournament account published a picture of the Russian champion congratulating her on her rise to the final.
Zidansek, who like Pavlyuchenkova made her debut in a major tournament semi-final, scored 27 direct winning points but made too many mistakes in key moments of the match to give her opponent the first set after a double-fault.
Pavlyuchenkova, the 29-year-old, led 4-1 in the second set and then thwarted an attempt by Zidansk to win the match by knocking her opponent away with a backhand. Pavlyuchenkova reached her first grand slam final on her 50th attempt, breaking the previous record held by Italian Roberta Vinci, who reached the 2015 US Open final in her 44th appearance at a grand slam.
In the final, she will meet either Greek Maria Sakkari or Czech Barbora Krichkova.
The French Open tennis "Roland Garros" is one of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments, and it is the second French International Open Grand Slam tournament, after the Australian Open in terms of strength and reputation.
