An old Soviet factory in Ivano.. the new theater for William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" In the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk, a modern version of the famous English writer William Shakespeare's play “Romeo and Juliet” is being shown. The exhibition grounds are halls inside an old Soviet factory.

Before the show begins, viewers are given helmets and a map to roam between the factory workshops and the theater basement.

The audience follows the actors through different locations and starts watching the show from different angles.

Rostislav Drjibelsky, president of the Ivano-Frankivsk Theater Association and director of the play, gave a modern twist to the famous love story. Instead of opening the business with a dance scene at the Capulet's house, Romeo and Juliet meet in a nightclub.

"This site is very difficult...but it is perfectly suited to highlight the breakdown of spirituality, certainty and love in Romeo and Juliet and the world around them," Drjebelski told Reuters.

Young actor Ole Panas, who plays Romeo, said he was in awe when he first saw the stage at the old factory.

"On the one hand, this location swallows the actor and it's hard not to get lost inside this huge place. But on the other hand, it adds value to the actor's performance and feelings. The huge cold area and the stairs... all these elements enhance the artist's feelings."
