Horrifying footage and scenes of winds and thunderstorms strangely hitting Nantong, Jiangsu Province, in eastern China
Strong winds and thunderstorms blew late Friday evening in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, east China.
Eleven people were killed and 102 others injured in this unusual weather frenzy on the Yangtze River. This caused buildings and trees to collapse, causing people to rush into the river.
By 8:00 a.m. Saturday, the weather had affected 13,688 people in several cities in Jiangsu. This caused direct economic losses of more than 16.4 million yuan.
A fishing boat capsized due to the wind, causing 11 people to fall into the water, two of them were rescued and 9 are still under investigation.
Electricity has been restored and collapsed trees, damaged cars and other items, such as shattered windows and collapsed roofs, have been removed.
Shanghai issued wind, thunderstorm and hail warnings on Friday afternoon, reminding people to avoid staying outdoors during this weather.
