Audi refuses to sell its Lamborghini luxury Italian brand The German car company, Audi, has announced its intention not to sell its luxury Italian brand to Lamborghini.

This comes after the Swiss group Quantum announced today, Wednesday, its desire to acquire the sports car company and enter into a strategic partnership with the Volkswagen Group, the owner of Audi.

According to reports by "Autocar" and "Automobil Fuhae" newspapers, the group offered with the English investor (Centricas) 5.7 billion euros in exchange for the acquisition of the Italian company, with a guarantee of job preservation for the company's 1,800 people.

An Audi spokeswoman said today: "We do not have a bid, and Lamborghini is not for sale," noting that there is no discussion on this issue within the group.

Last year, Lamborghini sold 7,430 SUVs, which were very expensive, with revenues of 1.6 billion euros.

Audi stated that the Lamborghini brand makes a "significant contribution to the profitability" of the German company.

Lamborghini is currently working on the production of an electric car equipped with the engine known as the wheel hub motor and nanotechnology energy storage devices. This engine and devices can be combined together in the body of the car. Instead of heavy batteries, this car will be equipped with super capacitors to generate electricity.

Quantum seeks to transform Lamborghini into "the spearhead of innovation" by applying clean engine technologies.
