Iceland volcano eruption continues .. video
Euronews Arabia broadcast footage showing the eruption of steam and lava from a new fissure in an Icelandic volcano that began to erupt last month, leading to the evacuation of hundreds of visitors who were present to see the scene.
The new fissure, which was spotted by a helicopter for sightseeing for the first time, was about 500 meters long and centered about a kilometer from the original eruption site in the Gildenga Valley.
The Icelandic Emergency Management Department announced an immediate evacuation of the area, with an assurance that there was no imminent danger to life due to the site's remoteness from popular hiking trails.
Live footage showed small lava jets coming from the new fissure.
