Germany is preparing to launch a project to rebuild the port of Beirut
Germany intends to propose a plan to rebuild the Beirut port and its surrounding areas, on April 7.
Two sources told Reuters that Germany will present to the Lebanese authorities next week a plan costing billions of dollars to rebuild the port of Beirut.
This comes as part of efforts to urge the country's politicians to form a government capable of avoiding an economic collapse.
Both Germany and France are seeking to lead the reconstruction efforts.
Berlin will offer the project, which the European Investment Bank has agreed to help finance.
According to this, the area will be evacuated and the facilities will be rebuilt.
