The death of the famous Egyptian writer Nawal El Saadawi
The famous Egyptian writer Nawal El Saadawi died, on Sunday, after a struggle with illness at the age of 90.
According to local media reports, El Saadawi was recently exposed to a health crisis, as a result of which she was transferred to a hospital.
"Al-Ahram" newspaper quoted Mona Helmy, Nawal Al-Saadawi's daughter, as saying a few days ago that her mother had difficulty swallowing food, and as a result, she had to install a tube in the stomach to facilitate swallowing.
Nawal El Saadawi, born in 1931, is an Egyptian doctor, writer and novelist, defending human rights in general and women's rights in particular.
Nawal is considered one of the most important Egyptian and Arab women writers, and she is the recipient of a number of prestigious international awards.
