The company explained that the version of "Instagram Lite" will be available for phones running the Android operating system, and needs a lower bandwidth than the traditional version. It only takes 2MB compared to the 30MB for the original app, and can even run on slower 2G networks, allowing customers in parts of India, Africa, Asia and Latin America, where internet infrastructure is obsolete, to use the service.

"These are the markets where the need is most" for "this version," Tzah Hadar, director of production management at Facebook in Tel Aviv, where most of the app has been developed, told Reuters. “It uses much less data, so if you have a small data package it will not run out when you use the service,” he added. But the goal is to provide the same volume of service that Instagram provides. ” He explained that launching the application in 170 countries is only a "step on the road."

It is worth noting that Facebook launched a diluted version of its website, of the same name, around the world five years ago.
