The two girls participated in a challenge, and sent text messages to unknown people, aiming to scare them. With texts such as “Where are you? The corpse is with me, ”then the game's TikTok participants post the answers they receive.

But some people reported these messages to the police, and the two senders were searched and revealed.

When the incidents occurred at the weekend, gendarmes intervened at night and raided the place of residence of the two girls, who were using their phones in this "plot", and thus they were easily identified.

The two girls will appear to be prosecuted for false reporting, said Fabien Azuri, the public prosecutor of the republic in Grasse, southeastern France. It is a misdemeanor punishable by two years in prison.

Azuri also noted that “adopting an alternative to persecution, in the form of subjecting (those concerned) to a citizenship training course, appeared to be an insufficient option. A summons to appear before a judge will return matters to normal. ”
