A truck causes a massacre in California
Thirteen people were killed and others injured in a traffic accident in southern California on Tuesday morning.
The US authorities stated that a heavy truck collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle, which was carrying 25 passengers, more than three times its capacity.
The accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. in Southern California, near the border with Mexico, in an agricultural area that many workers cross every day.
The 4x4, a Ford Expedition passing through a stopover on a national highway, collided with a heavy truck that was towing behind it.
"There were 25 people in the Ford Expedition, including the driver," California Highway Police Chief Omar Watson said during a press conference. Unfortunately, 12 passengers, including the driver, died at the scene of the accident, while another person died of his wounds after being taken to hospital .. At least 10 of the dead were Mexican nationals. ”
He added that "the ages of the dead ranged between 20 and 55 years, while one of the wounded was a minor and was 16 years old."
