Watch Biden being sworn in as the 46th President of America
Democrat Joe Biden was sworn in today to succeed former President Donald Trump, becoming the forty-sixth president of the United States, after he was sworn in in an inauguration ceremony that his predecessor, Donald Trump, did not attend.
In a speech, he called for "unity", pledging to defeat the tendency to believe in the supremacy of the white race and in "internal terrorism."
He praised the Day of "Hope" and "The Victory of Democracy."
He said, "The dream of justice for all will not be postponed any longer."
"We can do great things with unity," he added.
He continued, “This is America's Day. This is Democracy Day. A day of history and hope for renewal and resolve.
He hailed the “righteous people” in the country, explaining: “We have come a long way. We still have a lot to go. ”
He noted that the country is going through a "challenging" time, referring to the Coronavirus pandemic and the economic recession.
