Nicholas Yatromanoulakis appointed the first gay minister in the Greek government
According to the British newspaper The Independent, Nicholas Yatromanoulakis, 44, has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Culture of Greece.
Greece is suffering from the impact of the new Corona virus "Covid-19", which caused a high number of deaths in the fall and is expected to have caused a contraction of 10.5% of its GDP in 2020.
Despite these matters, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis left most of the key cabinet positions unchanged, keeping Christos Staikouras as finance minister and Vasilis Kilikias as health minister.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reshuffled the cabinet on Monday, but allowed his key ministers to keep their jobs as the country gears up to face "new challenges".
These changes, the first of their kind since the new Mitsotakis democracy came to power in July 2019, saw Christos Tarantilis become the new government spokesman.
"The new challenges and needs require the government to rearrange its capabilities by making people assume new or different roles," Tarantilis said in his first announcement of the cabinet reshuffle.
