Germany's crematorium director appeals to us: We burn 100 bodies of the dead in Corona every day, and we cannot do more
The crematoriums and the Cemetery Department in the German city of Nuremberg have sounded an alarm to the authorities after the number of deaths from the Coronavirus has increased dramatically over the past few days, according to separate media reports.
Gerhard Kratzier, in charge of the crematorium and cemetery order in the city, said that the numbers are increasing rapidly, and that they received 100 bodies in a day, which was a great burden on them to burn all this number.
He indicated that these numbers mean delays if many bodies are still present in the refrigerators, indicating that the refrigerators are no longer also bearing more deaths.
"We can no longer bear the procedures of cremation and burial. The morgue has a capacity of 240, and it can no longer bear more, and for that the capacity has been increased by the introduction of additional refrigerators for service," Kratzer said.
He pointed out that the laws in the state of Bavaria, to which the city of Nuremberg belongs, prohibits the burial of the dead until 96 hours after death, wondering if this law will be adhered to in the coming weeks and months or not.
He revealed that the number of deaths from the Corona virus increased by 30 percent in the past days, this is at a time when in Germany there were nearly 500 deaths in one day, which raises the total to exceed 40 thousand, and infections to more than one million nine hundred thousand, after recording about 17 thousand injuries in day.
