Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, arrives in Beirut accompanied by shipments of aid to support the health sector in Lebanon during the response to the Corona pandemic
Minister of Health: Sending 31 thousand tons of medicines, supplies and medical devices on board 3 military aircraft
Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, arrived Thursday morning at Rafic Hariri International Airport, on a visit to the sisterly State of Lebanon at the head of a delegation from the Ministry, accompanied by shipments of medicines, supplies, medical devices and baby products, in implementation of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's directives to support the State of Lebanon during The Coronavirus pandemic, in the context of the depth and interdependence of the relations between the two brotherly countries.
The Minister was received by Dr. Hamad Hassan, the Lebanese Minister of Health, and Dr. Yasser Alawi, Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon, and the Minister was accompanied on her trip by Dr. Mohamed Gad, Adviser to the Minister of Health and Population for Foreign Health Relations and Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, and Dr. Mohsen Taha, Head of the Central Department of Clinical Medicine.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the minister delivered aid shipments that arrived on board 3 military aircraft with the support of the Egyptian Armed Forces, noting that this aid includes 16,000 tons of baby formula, in addition to a shipment of Medicines and medical supplies amounted to 15,000 tons, including preventive supplies such as surgical masks, guantes, protective goggles, goggles, and others ...), and medicines for treatment protocols for the Corona virus, in order to support the health sector in the State of Lebanon during the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Mujahid added that, as Dr. Hala Zayed, Chairman of the Council of Arab Health Ministers in its current session, she also delivered the third shipment, including 7.6 tons of medical devices, in response to the Arab League’s request to prepare a shipment of medical devices and send them to the State of Lebanon, within the framework of the League’s efforts. The Arab state to provide the support the health systems need in the member states, noting that Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, had met with Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary of the League of Arab States, last Sunday at the Ministry’s general office, to discuss ways of cooperation to support the health sector in the State of Lebanon. Mujahid emphasized the continuation of the air bridge between Egypt and Lebanon, which began since the Beirut Port incident, through which shipments of medical aid were sent to the State of Lebanon, including medicines of all kinds, solutions, medical and surgical supplies and operation machines, on board two military aircraft, in addition to sending A shipment of medicines and preventive supplies related to the emerging coronavirus, to support the brotherly Lebanese people in facing the Coronavirus pandemic.
