Biden receives the second dose of Corona vaccine

The office of the US President-elect, Joe Biden, announced that he will receive his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday, three weeks after he received the first dose live on air to boost public confidence in the vaccine.

The Biden team said that the president-elect would also receive a second dose in front of the media, without giving further details.

On Monday, December 21, Biden received the first dose of the Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine at Christiana Delaware Hospital.

Biden, who is 78 for Americans at the time, said, "I am doing this to prove that people should be ready when he is available to get vaccinated, so there is no need to worry."

Biden added, "The vaccines give us hope, but the distribution mechanism was a farce," noting that the process of distributing the vaccine "will be the biggest practical challenge we can face as a nation."

During receiving the dose, Biden thanked health care workers and first responders, including the woman who gave the injection, saying, "We owe you a lot indeed."

More than 374,000 people have died from the Corona virus in America, and Biden on Friday criticized President Donald Trump's troubled distribution of vaccines, describing it as a "farce."

About 6.7 million Americans have so far received the first dose - well below the target of 20 million by the end of 2020.

But 22.1 million doses have been distributed nationwide, underlining the logistical challenge of giving injections to elderly and health workers who are a priority.
