A Turkish minister reveals his country's direction to close its military base in Qatar

A former Turkish minister told reporters about the possibility of Turkey closing its military base that it previously opened in Qatar, indicating that Ankara could make changes in its foreign policy, under the barrage of international pressure, to stop Turkish incursions in several regions, according to what reported by separate media.

A Turkish minister reveals his country's direction to close its military base in Qatar

This remarkable statement was made by the former Turkish Foreign Minister, Yashar Yakis, in light of what happened recently at the 41st meeting of the leaders of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia, which was a historic meeting that led to the exit of the Al-Ula agreement and the return of relations with Qatar.

Yakis indicated that the land moved from under Turkey, and things became unprecedented. After Arab countries were experiencing a number of disagreements, relations between Doha and Ankara became stronger, but things are now changing, in the interest of Saudi-Qatari relations.

Yakis pointed out that Turkey may close its military base in Doha, because the Arab countries feel discontent with the Turkish interventions, and the growing relations between the Ankara regime and its President Erdogan, who is working to intervene in the Arab countries, in Syria, Iraq and Libya, in Qatar.

"The time has come to improve Turkey's crisis relations with the Gulf states," he said.
