The investigations of the storming of the Congress building in Washington, DC, last Wednesday, revealed many surprises, as police departments in Virginia and Washington informed a number of their personnel considering themselves on administrative leave, while the authorities examined whether they had participated in illegal acts outside working hours.

According to Sky News, the Florida and New York fire departments said they had informed federal authorities that some of their personnel may have been present when rioters stormed the Congress building while it was meeting to certify the results of the presidential election, which took place on November 3.

The Police Department in the small town of Rocky Mount, Virginia, said Sunday that it had informed two individuals that they were on administrative leave after learning that they had attended an event in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, outside of business hours.

"The town of Rocky Mountain fully supports all legal forms of freedom of expression and assembly for its employees, but does not condone the illegal actions that took place on that day," the department said in a statement, saying it had notified the federal authorities.
