The prostate is part of the male reproductive system. One of its main functions is to add fluid to the semen.

Excessive enlarged prostate leads to a disease known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Ultimately, the enlarged prostate can narrow the urethra and restrict its outflow from the bladder. This leads to problems including frequent urination, difficulty passing urine, urine leakage, and a urinary tract infection.

Fortunately, there are natural ways to help combat the condition. According to studies. Saw palmetto (Saw palmetto) supplements can help prostate health by reducing symptoms of enlargement. This includes frequent urination, painful urination, and a sudden urge to urinate.

It can also reduce the need to urinate during the night. It increases urine flow. It is easy to empty the bladder completely.

Saw palmetto appears to work with some prescription medications. But it takes about a month or two of treatment before your symptoms improve.

WebMD said the ripe fruits of saw palmetto are used in a variety of forms, including ground and dried fruit or whole berries.

The health site continued: “It is available in the form of liquid extract, tablets, capsules, infusion or tea. Saw palmetto is mainly used for urinary symptoms related to an enlarged prostate gland. It is also used for other conditions, including chronic pelvic pain, bladder disorders, low sex drive, hair loss and hormonal imbalances. ”

And in a study published in the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. Saw palmetto berry extract and its ability to inhibit prostate cancer cell growth.

The study indicated that “the cytotoxicity of a substance commonly used to relieve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Saw palmetto berry extract (SPBE), tested as an oil using a set of prostate cell lines.

“The effect of SPBE doses on these cell lines is irreversible. Because a 30-minute treatment with SPBE at IC50 concentration does not prevent its growth. Normal prostate cells were inhibited by 20-25% when grown in the presence of 200 nl equivalent SPBE per ml. The growth of other non-prostate cancer cell lines was affected by about 50% and 40%, respectively.

And some early research finds that saw palmetto can improve symptoms of prostate swelling.

Other early research revealed that taking saw palmetto, selenium, and lycopene could improve symptoms of prostate swelling and chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Taking certain herbal formulations containing saw palmetto appears to improve the effects of sparfloxacin or prolifloxacin in treating symptoms of swollen prostate, caused by infection.

However, saw palmetto does not appear to improve prostate swelling symptoms, not due to infection.

The researchers found that the men who followed a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens, dark greens and tomatoes. They suffer from BPH, have fewer symptoms, and are less likely to have worsened enlargement.
