Information about the Chinese Corona vaccine ... you know it

China has made great strides to find a vaccine that eliminates the emerging corona virus. The company "Sinovac", which is considered a pioneer in the field of vaccine production, is making its way abroad.

Shipments of the vaccine made by the Beijing-based pharmaceutical company "Sinovac" have arrived in Indonesia. This is in preparation for a mass campaign to vaccinate citizens, with another 1.8 million doses expected to arrive by January. But the final stage tests are far from over.

How does the vaccine work?

The Chinese "Coronavac" vaccine works by using dead virus particles to expose the body's immune system to the virus without causing a dangerous reaction.

Associate Professor "Luoyu Dahi" of Nanyang Technological University told the "BBC". The Chinese Coronavac vaccine is considered a more traditional method that is being used with success in several famous vaccines.

He added, "RNA vaccines are considered a new type of vaccine and there is no successful example of the use of these vaccines in humans."

Its advantages:

One of the main advantages of the "Sinovac" vaccine is that it can be stored in a regular refrigerator at a temperature between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. Like the Oxford vaccine, it's made with a genetically modified virus that causes the common cold in chimpanzees.

According to "The Lancet", "we are only getting information from the first phase and second phase trials of the Coronavac vaccine."

Zhu Vinci, one of the authors of the paper, said that these results are drawn from 144 participants in the first phase of the experiments. And 600 participants in the second phase of the trials, means that the vaccine is suitable for emergency use.

In September, "Yin" of the company "Sinovac", said, "The tests involved more than 1000 volunteers. Some of them showed slight fatigue or discomfort ... not more than 5%.

The "Butantan" Institute in Brazil, which is a partner of "Sinovac", said that "it is expected that Sinovac will publish the results of the experiments before December 15th."

Professor Liu commented, "It is difficult to comment on the effectiveness of the vaccine at this time given the limited information available."

He added: "Based on the preliminary data ... it is likely that the Coronavac vaccine will be effective, but we should wait until the results of the third phase of the trials appear."

production quantity:

Sinovac will be able to produce 300 million doses per year at its 20,000 square meter facility. As with other vaccines, an individual needs two doses. Which means that this production is enough for 150 million people a year.

The "BBC" said that a team noticed that nurses in Yuan City were selling the vaccine for $ 60. A company in Indonesia said the vaccine will cost $ 1
