Follow these steps to get rid of unpleasant odors:
Wash the towels with hot water and vinegar: Collect the wet towels, put them in the washing machine, add a cup of white vinegar and then start the hot cycle.
Do not use detergents or any other bleaching agents, just hot water and white vinegar.
Take the towels out of the washing machine, if the bad smell remains, rinse the towels in hot water with the addition of a tablespoon of baking soda.
Spread the towels out in the sun to dry.
