Scientists intend to produce synthetic protein from soil bacteria

Finnish scientists have announced that it is possible to produce food from air, water and electricity in special laboratories, according to the “Today News Yuva” website.

Scientists plan to produce a highly concentrated synthetic protein, one milligram of which could feed up to 10 people.

Scientists explained that industrial protein, and within a period of 10 years, will compete with soybeans in terms of price.

The scientists pointed out that this protein consists of soil bacteria that feed on hydrogen, which in turn is separated from water using electricity, stressing at the same time that the production process will be environmentally friendly as the greenhouse gas emissions from the process in the atmosphere will be very low.

The product includes 50 percent protein, 25 percent carbohydrates and 10 percent fat, and the first batch is planned to be produced by 2020.
