The company said in a note that the new layoffs will take place in the first half of 2021.

Earlier this month, Disney said it would lay off additional workers from its theme park in Southern California, knowing when the state would allow the parks to reopen.

Disney theme parks in Florida and those outside the US reopened earlier this month, but with strict social distancing and mandatory masks.

Disneyland Paris was also forced to close again late last month when France imposed a new closure to combat the second wave of Corona, while the company's parks in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo are still open.
