Denmark culls 25,000 chickens and Germany kills 16,000 roosters after suspected bird flu
Denmark has executed 25,000 chickens, after being suspected of being infected with bird flu, inside a farm, and a decision was issued to stop poultry and egg exports to countries outside the European Union for at least three months. According to APE-MPE, mass killing of poultry is taking place after the detection of bird flu cases in wild birds in the western part of the country in recent days, while cases have been recorded in other European countries in recent weeks.
Earlier in the day, Germany ordered the slaughter of 16,100 turkeys after the same type of bird flu was discovered on a farm in northern Germany. The Danish Directorate of Veterinary Medicine and Food said in a statement that no human cases had been reported in Europe and that European Union authorities had been informed of the current results.
