A study shows that smoking raises the incidence of corona 3 times

Scientists from the University of California, America, have found that smoking cigarettes increases the risk of infection with the Corona virus, as it causes the body's immune response to be suppressed.

Laboratory studies of airway models made from human stem cells have revealed that smoking stops key immune system molecules, called interferons, from working properly, according to the Sanad Agency.

She explained that interferons are messengers that instruct affected cells to make proteins to attack the invading pathogen. It is essential to fight the primary infection.

It also calls on support from the wider immune system and warns uninfected cells to prepare for the virus.

The study found that smoking stops this pathway from working properly. This causes an up to three times increase in the number of human cells infected with the virus.

The scientists used human stem cells from donors. To create an analogue of the airways, the culture is called the interface between air and liquid.

Researchers focused on this part of the respiratory system before the lungs. Because it is where mucus is formed and most of the cilia live and tiny hairs designed to help clear mucus and any infections trapped outside the body.

And the scientists left some cells without violent treatment or interference. While others were exposed to cigarette smoke for three minutes every day over the course of four days, then both of them were infected with the Coronavirus.

It showed the models that were exposed to smoke. It contained two to three times the affected cells.
