Who is Emre Demir, the new Barcelona jewel?
Barcelona announced on Thursday the signing of the Turkish jewel Emre Demir, from the Turkish club Kayserispor, for two million euros. Despite the financial crisis that the Catalan club is going through, it has never given up its quest to sign the most prominent emerging talents.
The 17-year-old is considered one of Turkey's best talents, and has already taken exams at La Masia Academy. The Turkish club Kayserispor had requested 5 million euros to facilitate his departure to the Catalan club, but the two clubs eventually reached an agreement to transfer the player for two million euros, in addition to several incentives related to the player achieving certain goals in the future.
Emre Demir signed a contract with Barcelona until 2027, and he will spend the current season on loan to the Turkish club Kayserispor, and next summer he will join the second team of Barcelona. If his performance develops at the necessary speed, he will be promoted to the first team, as happened in the case of Pedri.
Who is Emre Demir?
He was the youngest scorer in the history of the Turkish Super League, at 15 years and 299 days. Last season he played 14 matches in the domestic competition, mostly as a substitute. He can play as both an attacking midfielder and a defensive midfielder. This year, he is expected to secure a key position in Turkey's Kayserispor squad.
