Spain welcomes 30,000 runners to the Madrid Marathon
Tomorrow, Sunday, the Spanish capital will host the Madrid Marathon, with the participation of 30,000 competitors from 104 countries.
The participants will tour the streets of Madrid in 3 competitions: the marathon (8,000 participants), the half-marathon (15,000 competitors) and the 10-kilometer race (7,000 competitors).
The participants represented an increase of 5,000 compared to the runners on the same day of the Berlin Marathon.
These numbers make the Madrid Marathon the most crowded event at the international level since the start of the new Corona virus pandemic in March 2020, and according to the organizers, it will generate an income for the city estimated at 40 million euros.
The event will witness the application of hygienic measures, including forcing participants to wear a muzzle before the start of the race.
