Ahmed Ghazi Darwish, said in a statement that the launch of this pioneering project in cooperation with Source Global, a company specialized in water desalination, coincides with what the Saudi multi-product tourism sector is witnessing, which covers the demand of tourists to the sea destination. He explained that the solar-powered desalination plant is the largest of its kind, with a production capacity of 2 million bottles with a capacity of 330 ml annually, but it will produce in its early stages 300 thousand bottles every year, as the reusable glass bottles will be refilled within the plant as part of a model Completely cyclical and sustainable distribution.


He pointed out that collecting and bottling water will contribute to achieving carbon neutrality and getting rid of non-recyclable plastic bottles.


Darwish emphasized the company's keenness for ambitious Saudi youth to have a major role in achieving these sustainable goals and to be part of them, noting that the workforce needs at the station were identified with 30 job opportunities, at least 10 of which will be allocated to Saudis who will receive intensive training on the job. 


He stated that a distinctive ideal location has been identified for the construction of this solar-powered station, indicating that the specialists have installed hydrogen panels at the station site and through the virtual survey, with a plan dedicated to ensuring the efficiency and success of the water desalination project extracted from sunlight and air, and 100 hydrogen panels will be installed.

 Based on the expansion plans of the second and third phase, 1,200 hydrogen panels will be installed in total, and the station will be provided with the necessary machinery and equipment and recyclable bottles from companies located in the Kingdom.
