The Berlin Film Festival begins next Monday due to Corona
The Berlin Film Festival is preparing for the launch of its 71st edition next Monday, as it will be broadcast to a select audience of journalists and film industry professionals, on a limited scale due to the emerging coronavirus pandemic.
For his part, Director of the Europe Office of the magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" and a veteran journalist at the Berlin Festival, Scott Roxboro, said that the Berlin Festival "is the most popular festival in the world and draws its life from its audience of thousands who go to see films in Berlin." The Festival of the Year received a "heavy blow," according to Russian Sputnik.
Last year, the festival was held normally, before the epidemic hit Europe, forcing cinemas to close their doors, along with most other public places.
Most of the 15 films competing at this year’s festival for the Golden Bear were either produced during or in between shutdowns by filmmakers who Roxboro say have demonstrated "unrivaled prowess" at work.
Competing films include the comedy "Next Door" which deals with travel, city life and fame, and "I’m Your Man", in which British actor Dan Stephens plays a robot.
